“For what it’s worth: it’s never too late or, in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be. There’s no time limit, stop whenever you want. You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. And I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you’re proud of. If you find that you’re not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again”. – From the Movie The Curious Case of Benjamin Buttons
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button has become my favorite movie, when I travel it is my go to movie to watch. The more I watch it the more I get from the movie. But I digress.
In my professional career before 2016 I was in the restaurant business, as was so for almost 30 years. 90% of my life I was in a restaurant working and learning. It was what I thought I wanted to do my entire life. But then things change. And with that change I became pretty burnt out with the industry, and had fell out of love with it.
So today, I have trying a multitude of different paths to see what is going to be to next chapter in life. I’m trying things I’ve never thought I would have done, things I’ve always wanted to try, and things that just happen to come across my table. While my “struggles” and “gains” are different as a wise man once told me “I’m still here”.
If you are stuck doing something you don’t like or in a relationship that isn’t going anywhere. It is ok to start over, you are not too old, you can do this. The only thing that is holding you back is your own fear, fear that is only made up in your head.
Take that chance, there is nothing wrong with wanting more out of your life.
