One of my friends, Nick recommended a book to me a few months ago which was “Mindset: The New Psychology of Success” by Carol Dweck. Now me being a cheap charlie, I try to rent books from the library instead of purchasing them. I do however will purchase a book after borrowing it from the library if I plan on re-reading it. I do wish we could share audio books like we could hard copies. But I digress.
What this book discusses is there are really only two types on mindsets, fixed and growth. It goes over practical examples of how each mindset will achieve different results, and how to adapt and change your mindset to a growth mindset. A fix mindset is a mindset that you believe life “is what it is” that you can’t get smarter, you have limits on your abilities, and so on. While a growth mindset is a mindset were you can adapt, learn, adjust and improve your abilities. Pretty much that your abilities are not limited, like a fix mindset would have you believe.
The book also goes into details on to train yourself to change your mindset, how to teach and instill a growth mindset in kids. This book is your playbook on how to adjust your mindset. Well worth the listen (or read if that is your thing). Have you read any good books lately? Comment below with some good books we should check out, or connect with me on social media.
